Cindy LathamFounder Rotary Wildfire ReadyCindy Latham is the founder of Rotary Wildfire Ready, a community-based wildfire preparedness initiative she launched in 2018 following the devastating Camp Fire that destroyed much of Paradise, California. Inspired by the tragedy and recognizing the critical need for greater community education and preparedness, Cindy developed Rotary Wildfire Ready to help neighborhoods become more resilient through practical education, collaboration, and local action. The program began through the incredible support of Evergreen Rotary and brings together Rotary clubs, fire agencies, emergency management organizations, civic leaders, and community groups to strengthen wildfire readiness before disasters occur. She has dedicated her volunteer leadership to advancing wildfire resilience across communities. Her work has included serving on the Jefferson County Wildfire Risk Reduction Task Force (2020), as a Neighborhood Ambassador for the Evergreen Fire Protection District, as a Board Member of the Wildfire Prepared Home Assessment Program, and as a member of Fire Adapted Colorado. Cindy's commitment to public service has been recognized through numerous honors. She was named Rotarian of the Year by the Rotary Club of Evergreen in both 2021 and 2023, received the Community Service Leader of the Year Award from the Windermere Foundation in 2021, earned a Citizen's Commendation Award from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in 2022, and was honored with the Governor's Award from Rotary District 5450 in 2022 for her outstanding community leadership and service. A past member of the Rotary Club of Evergreen, Cindy continues to work with Rotary clubs, homeowners associations, fire departments, emergency management professionals, and public agencies to promote wildfire preparedness, build fire-adapted communities, and empower residents to take meaningful actions that help protect lives, homes, and neighborhoods from the growing threat of wildfire. |
